My fuel line keeps plugging and it always seems to be between the Racor filter and the tank. The inline rubber priming bulb colapses indicating the fuel pump is still sucking and the Racor filter is not yet plugged. I've managed to use a utility pump to remove some rather large chunks of rust (1/4" or so) but it still does it almost every time I take the boat out. I'm too cheap and maybe too stupid to pay for a tank cleaning service and I somehow doubt it's worth the money. I connected my utility pump to a dual truck diesel filter and after cycling the fule through it for awhile it appears very clean. I've always used a biocide but I may have knocked some cork gasket material into the tank at one time. Anyone have similar problems and if so how did you solve them? A shrimp boat captain told me use a garden hose and one cleaning service claimed to use a "secret" solvent mix. Both ideas make me nervous.

i've been working on my P35, removed fuel tank to replace drive train components. first time removed since install - 77 . not too difficult, but still took all day . was glad i did it . got rid of center fill hose by re-routing. found cotton strap was causing some corrosion on tank surface. but all fitttings broke lose fairly easy. pumped out with a bulb device. black goo on the bottom . rinsed out with dry gas, IPA . rinsed and also used kerosene. just dispose properly. fd

Hi, On the same note, has anyone removed/replaced the fuel pickup tube? I am sure the tank is original 1969 for an Atomic 4 but engine is now a Yanmar 3gm. Do I have to cut an access hole? Any ideas? Thanks Randy

I've got a small leak near the top of my original 1974 fuel tank, originally gas but now diesel. would anyone have any suggestions/instructions on removing the tank?
Thanks in advance, davelt99@gmail.com
