We are looking at a Pearson centerboard which has the centerboard hanging about 10 inches below the trunk. That is as far up as the cable will pull it. We can push it all the way up so we don't think it is stuck on anything. The surveyor suggested the line needed another turn around the big spool and then it would come up all the way. The yard said we needed to haul it for them to try the repair. So has anyone had this problem and fixed it by working on the cable or pendant? What is the centerboard made of? My problem is I want to put it at a dock which doesn't have enough water for the extra 10 inches of centerboard. My husband suggested cutting the board off at the bottom and fiberglassing over it. Is that possible? Thanks!

Iff you need another turn on the winch, lower the board and take another turn on the rope around the pullley/wheel. Very easily done.
Another reason the board could be hanging up is the pennant is installed with a big loop. The nico press fitting could then hit the hull before the board is all the way up. If you can dive the bottom, lower the board and check the pennant. The pennant should have a thimble with the nico press fitting right at the thimble.
