Have a 1972 Pearson 35 pedestal is leaking at thingypit sole. And is leaking on transmission and cables. Has anyone ever had this problem. There is a sandwich of teak between pedestal base and sole.
Guessing it is going to be a P.I.T.A to fix.
Has anyone had experience with this?

When I converted to tiller steering found the core around the wheel was rotted out. Cleanes out the rotten core as best I could, cut plywood pieces to stuff in place of Balsa core, coated the plywood liberally with thickened epoxy stuffed in sole frp sandwich and glassed over. It stiffened up the sole and wouldn't know there had been a rotten core. Don't know how it would stand up to having the pedestal in place.
FWIW, the pedestal had been leaking for quite some time and galvanized bolts holding it in place were nearly rusted in two and twisted off with almost no force on the wrench. Wouldn't be surprised if this is a problem common to all P35's. Reinstall with Butyl caulk after stabilizing the sole. Butyl should hold up to the torquing of the pedestal with people grabbing on to it or falling against it.

Pulled and rebedded mine this year. Repainted the Pedestal as well. Wasn't that bad, but the bolts were in good shape.
