Is there a way to get to the coupler without pulling the engine?
I thought I had a transmission glitch because the gear shift smootly moved from forward to reverse and back again with no clunks. When we pulled the boat to be sure, the propeller was touching the rudder -- a good indication that the coupler had become unhitched.
Now, is there a way to get at the uncoupled coupler without pulling the engine?
Best wishes, Rollyn Trueblood

Have you tried to reach the coupling from within the stbd lazzerette ? Not sure what engine you have but for my universal 5424 I have crawled in head down and been able to reach the coupler by sticking my upperbody in between the fuel tank support and the transmission to uncouple and check engine alignment and even reach the stuffing box hose clamps . It's tight but possible. but you might want to be sure someone is on the boat with you in case you get stuck or the lazerette cover closes behind you.
