My W30 has over 3500 hours and has never been a willing starter when cold. While I can't answer your question I have a couple of suggestions. Make sure your glow plugs are working. They should have 12 volts across them when the glow plugs are energized. Also disconnect them and measure the resistance of each plug to the engine block. They should all be similar. Also don't over look a weak battery or starter motor. After I had my starter motor rebuilt, it turned over much faster. I hope tis helps you. Jack
