I am looking at a 1979 P-35 this Saturday that I really like for many and varied reasons. The boat has been re powered and has nice electronics with original gel coat exposed. The owner is asking $39,000.00. It's the most expensive P35 for sail in the country. what should I offer to start the bidding process? I am buying a boat for the first time and lack experience in the buying process. Can any one help.

Willy I purchased a 78 P35 two years ago.The owner was asking $39,000 and I ended up paying $30,000 for it. During the past two years I have put an additional $30,000 into the boat including a new engine, radar etc.The P35 is great boat .I can not tell you what to offer but engines and upgrades are expensive. Wishing you luck Warren .P35 Seaquel #407.

Willy Get the boat survayed! No one can help without first seeing the boat.Consider what needs to be added to make you happy , consider the appraised value and go from there. There are P35's out there that 39 thousand would be a steal and there are 35's that is worth the hull only price Hire a good survayer and take his advice. Good Luck Roscoe
