I was out in rough weather with centerboard up. The boat (and centerboard) took a beating. Now board is jamed in the centerboard trunk. Any sugestions on how I can free the board with hauling the boat?

The only way I could emagine the board getting "jamed" would be for the cable to be frayed and stuck in the housing.Check out cable replacement in the "projects" page. Might I suggest joining this web site? Roscoe

Could there have been so much bouncing around that the cable on the spool jammed (like a fishing reel sometimes does). I would check the cable spool in the galley and make sure it is free to unwind. Just an idea,. A stuck board in the UP position does seem odd. I'd focus on the pendant and please let us know if you determine what caused this problem. Good luck.

I finally got a diver to check on my centerboard. Apparently the rough seas forced the board up further into the trunk than normal where the marine growth caught the board. After cleaning out the trunk my centerboard works fine. I guess the lesson here is to have your centerboard trunk cleaned when you have the bottom cleaned between haul-outs.
