Hi Gang, Has anyone every tried one of the dripless packing glands on the rudder shaft? It is time to repack my rudder shaft gland and I was thinking it might be a good alternative. The dripless gland on my propeller shaft works very well, so I thought I would ask the group if there had been any experience with this idea. Thanks, Terri

I thinl a dripless seal needs to have water in contact with the sealsurfice for lubrication in the case of the rudder shaft it is above the water line and would run dry.Graphite packing cord is the best I used it over a year ago and not a drop since.I installed mine on the hard. Roscoe
