Has anyone had to remove/replace a fuel tank in a 1973 P35? I have not attempted it yet but it seems near impossible without any cutting of fiberglass.

Mt P35 had a square diesel tank. It came out through the port locker.. You have to disassemble the cradle some by removing wood screws. Also removed all the tank fittings to provide clearance.. If your engine happens to be out, it is much easier to bring it out the front.

I had a scare when I just did my engine reinstall and a lot of work on the deck. Suddenly started getting green stains coming off the tank. Went "Oh nuts, the tank is leaking." Did a close inspection of how the tank was mounted. Looks like removing a cleat or two and it will pull out forward over the engine. Looks like you could do it without removing the engine but would be a lot easier to do with the engine out of the way. The engine is really easy to pull. Put a 4x4 across the companionway and use a come along to pull it out. Did it by myself. Takes two people to get it back in, though, to line it up.
The green stains turned out to be a false alarm. With the wheel pedestal removed, water was leaking onto the tank and picking up some of the corrosion from the Monel of the tank. Big relief as the tank was full and didn't know how I was going to pump out 30 gallons of diesel, let alone pull the tank.

With the 30 gallon monel it looks like removing the engine is the best way.
