I would like to mount a prefabricated stainless steel bow roller to our 1981 Pearson 35 (Hull #495 "Mackinac").
I am thinking about flying an asymmetrical from it, so it needs to be SOLID. I am also debating whether I should "cut-a-way" the wood at the stem on one side of the stainless stem fitting such that the roller would mount flush on the deck versus mounting the roller on a spacer so it clears the existing wood under the stem fitting (I hope I'm explaining this OK).
Finally, I currently use a Danforth, but was thinking about a new 22# Delta as a primary anchor.
Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated.

There's some good pictures of the bow area and different configurations that owners have done in the past. Might check this out in the VARIATIONS section on the web site.
