I am wondering if anyone has installed the Schaffer bridge traveler system on a P35? I am thinking of moving mine out of the thingypit to midship but am wondering if this comes with any issues? Look forward to your feedback, thanks.

You'll loose the mechanical advantage of end boom sheating. You'll need afew more purchases and probably a winch to sheat in in any kind of wind. It will crowd up your companionway and your mainsheet trimmer won't have as much room as the aft position. Wat are your reasons for moving it?

Have gone to a two speed 3-1/6-1 system for my end boom sheeting. Have to use the 6-1 way more than I anticipated.
Last boat had mid boom sheeting with 4-1 blocks and sheet run forward to mast and then back to cabin top. Trimming the main in anything but light air conditions required the addition of a pretty heft winch. Was a real hassle and very sllloooooowww to have to use the winch constantly. On a P35, would have some concern about bending the boom. Traveller in front of the companionway would leave a lot of boom flopping unsupported in the wind aft of it.
Thought about moving the traveller to the bridge deck but decided against it. Would have made hanging out under the dodger in rain/crappy conditions uncomfortable and restricted how far aft the dodger could go. Plan on adding a hard top dodger that would shield the bridge deck from rain for all except rain with a following wind.

ROVERHI Did you use the Harken 2speed setup? I just got that for my boat, but won't get to use it until spring. I looked at many ways to set the mainsheet up, and the 3:1/6:1 had the lesser amount of evils. The factory setup with the sheet running back to the mast and down and back to a winch was reall slow and a PITA.

No, I got a deal on a Ronstan 3-1/6-1 setup on Ebay. About died when I found out what the retail price is for the set up. Can't recommend 3-1/6-1 two speed enough. It's great when jibing or luffing a sail to pull in lots of sheet quickly yet have the power to sheet the main in hard going to weather when the wind is up.
If anyone else is thinking about going with a two speed system, look at Garhauer. They've got a two speed that they list as a vang near the end of the 2nd column of products in the online catalogue. Way way cheaper, even affordable than the other guys two speed systems.
