I would like to run my halyards and reefing lines to the thingypit. I would prefer to drill as few holes as possible and only drill once! I might leave the jib halyard and main halyard at the mast, especially since I have a roller furler.
Has anyone run their control lines aft and can you share some pictures of the finished project? I have searched the projects page but no luck.
Thank you,

I've run the main halyard, outhaul and reefing lines to the thingypit. Makes reefing a one minute operation from the comfort and security of the dodger. The halyard and tack reefing lines run to the stbd side, the outhaul and clew reefing lines to port. Used Harken Classic Medium standup blocks at the mast, a Garhauer 4 gang deck organizer, triple garhauer clutches and an Anderson #12 self tailing winch for the clew reefing lines and a Spinlock PXR 0810 cam cleat for the outhaul. The tack reefing lines go through Ronstan blocks secured to a diamond pad eye at the mast to another Garhauer 4 gang deck organizer and Schaeffer triple rope clutch at the cabin top. Halyard runs through a Harken 1988 mast base Halyard block, deck organizer to a Spinlock XAS clutch and #12 Anderson ST winch. The double line reefing system works a treat, just loose the main halyard to a pre marked spot, haul in the tack line, retighten the halyard and then haul in the clew reefing lines on the other side of the companionway. Super fast and easy. Sailing around SF Bay typically required reefing two or more times in an afternoon sail. Always seemed to be late in putting in the reefs and shaking them out because it was so unpleasant to work at the mast. Now I reef at the drop of a hat and shake it out just as quick. On the sail to Hawaii, reefed and shook it out a couple of times just for entertainment. The boom is a newish Zspar with internal clew reefing lines. The boom makes running the clew and outhaul lines a snap. If you are using the old boom, would have to secure blocks at the gooseneck for the clew reefing lines. You could save yourself a winch by running the clew reefing lines and halyard to the same side. If you are going to pull the mast, a Garhauer mast base plate will let you use cheaper swivel blocks. There are pictures of an early iteration of my reefing set up in this website: www.pearson35.com/projects/lines_to_thingypit.htm If you want more detailed photos and/or the current slightly different set up email me at roverhiatyahoo.

Thank you for your detailed response. Reefing from the thingypit is the primary reason for running the control lines aft. I am not pulling the mast anytime soon so I won't be able to install a mast plate but that would be the best way to go.
Since the board rules automatically substitutes "thingypit" for "c***pit" I could not access your pictures until I opened a new browser window and typed in the link - correcting the correction.
I will email you for more detailed pictures of your current set up. Thank you.
