I am considering placing bilge alarms to warn of high water, but it seems that there are two sumps in the bilge, each side of the centerboard housing, and they're not connected by limber holes?
Also, since the sumps are very narrow at the bottom, how do you manage to fit a decent-size bilge pump down there far enough?
Any photos of installations would be appreciated

I have one in each. Droped a Rule into the starboard one, another mounted one in the port higher on a platform with a float switch on it. Can turn them both on manually from a switch mounted in the housing for the CB winch under the companionway. Wired together so they both come on with the float switch. There is a sump not connected deeper back by the transmission that I put another nuisance water pump in. Pics of that up on sailnet. Look for Dry Bilge thread.

Thank you, I just cleaned out the standing water in the narrow bottom bit (with a cup and sponge) since the boat is on the hard with the bow tilted lower. Will have to paint it too...
Am I correct in my impression that the bilge thru hull is under starboard aft and under the water line on Pearson35s? I found a check valve in the piping

I've got two, both above the waterline, Port. But it could be they changed it or it was owner modified at some point.

Have no bilge through hull in my boat originally commissioned in sunny SF Bay. Believe any bilge through hull would be an owner supplied thing. Assume that you mean a drain plug for emptying the bilge while on the hard. If you mean a through hull for the pumps outflow, have a stand pipe in the gallery that doubles as a sink drain. Could also tape into the thingypit and/or deck drain stand pipes.
Have two bilge pumps for the sump each with it's own automatic switch so it will pump out on either tack.
