The picture, I hope came out, shows damage where I think the rudder is supported by a bronze bearing. I remember reading many moons ago someone replaced this but I can't find the thread. I believe he had to make a mould and pour the replacement. I had Tropigal up for sale, this problem was pointed out to me via email, I intend to launch her again in September and bring her back down to Key West area. So any insight as to what I might be getting into would be most appreciated. Thanks to all who aid the un educated by support of this site and wisdom presented on it. Billy wekinne@yahoo.com

Can't see the extent of the damage that you are talking about with the resolution of the photo. If the gudgeon fitting is toast, you could get a new one cast. Sending the old one off to make a pattern, if you didn't have a pattern made out of wood, would probably be necessary. This company could surely make the piece but would probably not be cheap. If the problem is wear in the socket, believe the puka could be filled with molten bronze and rebored. Have heard of people have a piece of PTFE plastic machined into the socket to fill the lost metal. Wonder if this could be a use for a 3D printer to make a pattern?? www.facebook.com/pages/Port-Townsend-Foundry-LLC/168103826554894
