I have a 1969 P35 #113 with an Atomic 4. the engine controls are low down in the forward end of the thingypit. Manoeuvering in harbour is difficult as I have to nearly be on my knees to operate the controls and then I can't see where the boat is going. Has anyone come up with any ideas for relocating the controls up onto the pedestal? Edson offers a conversion kit that allows the controls to be mounted at the top of the pedestal, under the binnacle, but they only offer the one for the A4 in 4.5" diameter and my boat has the 6" diameter pedestal. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has figured out a practical way to relocate the controls.

I converted my '71 P35 hull #191 with the Edson conversion kit model # 816ST-45. I you haven't already call Edson they were very helpful in getting the right one for my Yanmar engine.

Thanks, JM. I have spoken with Edson and I would happily buy their conversion kit. However, my boat has an Atomic 4 engine and needs the transmission shifter with a long-throw lever because the A4 transmission is very stiff to shift into reverse. They do offer a conversion kit for the A4 but, unfortunately for me, they only have it to fit the smaller, 4.5" pedestal. My boat has the larger 6" pedestal and they don't seem to offer the A4 version in this size. I may go ahead and buy the 6" conversion kit, remove the transmission lever and just use the throttle control. It is the location of the throttle control deep down in the thingypit that really is the problem. I am having a longer handle made for the existing shifter lever and that will work OK.
