I have the Hyde Stream-Stay One roller furler on my 1979 P35. It is probably original or close to it. The lower bearings are shot. Does anyone else have this system and is it worth fixing? The Hyde system doubles as the forestay so taking it down to service will not be fun. Some reviews say the system will outlive the boat but a local respectable rigger told me I am better off replacing it. Thoughts?

Working on almost any furler will need to have the stay and furler lowered. Not a big thing if you have a mast climber to get to the mast head. Will need at least one person to help lowering the stay/extrusion to keep from linking it. Use a spare halyard to support the mast while headstay is off.
Not familiar with your furler but you are going to have to take it apart to determine whether it can be rebuilt. If a Hood furler I'm helping a Marina mate install is representative, a new one will be a lot lighter. Easy to assemble a new stay with StaLok or other mechanical terminals. You could install a new furler in a few hours mostly working by yourself. Make sure you take measurements before disassembling the old one.

Thanks for the feedback. I ended up replacing it with a new Harken System. If anybody wants/needs the old Hyde parts, let me know.
