I'm considering buying a 1970 model with a recently rebuilt Atomic. I asked the broker about fuel consumption at hull speed, and according to him the owner said that I could expect to get one-half gallon per hour. I know it depends on conditions, but I would think the consumption would be much closer to one gallon per hour or more. Can anyone give me a more realistic idea? Thanks.

Not positive about the P35 with the A4 but my Catalina 30 was closer to 1 gal a hour. But I had excellent luck with the several A4's I've had in the past. Moyer Marine has an excellent web site for lots of parts. Best of luck on your descision.

Hi Steve, The fingers are faster than the brain. We have a P35 #336 with an A4 engine. At about 2000 rpm we burn a little less than a gallon an hour. However for fuel consumption usage, we round it up to 1 GPH. With that we haven't run out of fuel yet. Maybe this year we'll get a gas gauge.

you didnt specify whether you have a reduction gear or not. My P35 had the A4 with a 2:1 reduction gear swinging a 15x8 3 blade prop and I burned 1 to 1.25 gph. Get the paper work on the rebuild before making a commitment a lot depends on who did the rebiuld and to what extent the job was done. My P35 is a '77 and I am in the middle of repowering with a diesel. I'd be glad to share any knowledge I have regarding the A4. Suggest you look up the Moyer Marine web site. Invaluable resource Jack

We have a P-35 with Atomic 4 and it uses 1 gallon per hour. I feel that your estimate is closer to accurate than the brokers.
